KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan redshirt running back
Jalen Buckley has been named to The Athletic Midseason Freshman All-American Team.
Buckley has played in six of WMU's seven games this season, rushing for 645 yards and five touchdowns. His 103.0 yards-per-game average ranks him tops among freshman running backs in the nation. The 618 total yards rushing is also the most among his freshman counterparts in the nation.
The Batavia, Ill., native burst onto the scene in the season-opener against St. Francis (PA). He rushed for 194 yards and one touchdown en route to earning MAC West Offensive Player of the Week. He later had a career-high 196 yards and two touchdowns in WMU's conference opener at Toledo.
Buckley has also been named to the Football Writers Association of America's Freshman All-American Watch List.
The Broncos are on the road this weekend to take on Ohio on Saturday at 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network.
