Tom Cooklin Named MVC Offensive Player Of The Week

MISSOURI -- The Missouri Valley Conference announced its players of the week Tuesday afternoon. After his stellar performance this past week, Tom Cooklin was named the MVC Offensive Player of The Week.

Today, Cooklin received his second individual award in two days: Yesterday, Cooklin was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week. Tuesday marked the first MVC Offensive Player of The Week honor of Cooklin's career after he led Western Michigan to a 5-0 win over in-state rival Oakland and a 3-0 Homecoming victory over Drake. The graduate student from Lewes, England secured a career-best four assists versus Oakland during WMU's victory last Wednesday and scored his first goal of the season in Western's 3-0 win over Drake on Saturday. Cooklin's performance this past week helped the Brown and Gold extend its unbeaten streak to a new program-best 12 games without a loss.

In 10 games played, Cooklin has accumulated one goal and six assists with the Broncos this season. As of this afternoon, Cooklin sits two assists away from entering into a tie for fifth in the division one men's soccer in the assist department.

Cooklin and the rest of the Broncos will return to WMU Soccer Complex for the final game of their three-game homestand versus Northern Illinois University tomorrow on Wednesday, October 18, at 4:00 PM.
