PEORIA, Ill. -- The Western Michigan cross country team concluded its regular season by placing 18th at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon. The Broncos were led by
Danielle Rinn, who placed 22nd with a time of 21:37.10.
"We got to experience some true cross country conditions today," head coach
Kevin Cataldo said. "This is a young group, and I was very pleased with how Larissa and Lauren raced today. Danielle did a great job leading the team for the third meet in a row and it was great having Brooke back in the lineup. When you race at a meet like this with 32 teams and a lot of fans, there tends to be a lot of distractions. I think it was a good environment for this young group to learn from and gain experience in."
The top 10 teams in the field were: North Dakota State, South Dakota, Central Michigan, Oakland Wichita State, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Illinois State, Drake and Southern Ilinois.
Kayla Schiera was the second runner to cross the finish line for the Broncos, as she placed 45th with a time of 22:01.90. Then came
Madison Clor, who checked in with a time of 22:50.10. That was good for 115th place.
Larissa McGrath,
Brooke Soper and
Lauren Sancrant all finished together in 142nd, 143rd and 144th place. McGrath had a time of 23:08.10, Soper finished the race in 23:08.30 and Sancrant recorded a time of 23:09.40.
Katelyn Spooner,
Madison Zarembski and
Maggie Raab also finished the race under 24 minutes for the Broncos.
