KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team makes the trek to Athens, Ohio to face the Bobcats of Ohio University for its fifth Mid-American Conference matchup. The Bobcats and Broncos will play at the Convocation Center on Wednesday, Jan. 18 for a 7 pm tip-off.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 
As a unit, Western Michigan averages 67.3 PPG on 39.4 percent shooting from the field. The Broncos average 32.1 rebounds per contest, for a -5.4 rebound margin per game over their opponents. WMU averages 12.1 free throws per game and knocks down 67.9 percent of their attempts from the line. Western Michigan dishes out 11.9 assists per contest while averaging 10.1 steals per game. 
 
Western Michigan is ranked first in the Mid-American Conference and seventh nationally for most three-pointers attempted per game. WMU is currently attempting an average of 28.2 three-pointers per game.

Between the two programs, the Broncos have faced Ohio a total of 65 times. The Bobcats hold the all-time edge over WMU, 35-30.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The two MAC teams faced each other in early February of 2022. The matchup was held at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio, where the Bobcats fell 80-73 to the Broncos. The Bobcat loss was the second of the season after falling to WMU in an early season contest. The back-and-forth game was led by WMU's redshirt sophomore Lauren Ross, collecting 37 points. 
 
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Northern Illinois proved to be a difficult matchup for Ohio, falling 78-66 to the Huskies on Saturday, Jan. 14. The Ohio Bobcats were led in scoring by Yaya Felder. Felder totaled 23 points, followed by Caitlyn Kroll and Jasmine Hale with 13 points each. Ohio shot 26-of-54 (48.1 percent) from the field, 8-of-23 (34.8 percent) from deep, and 6-of-8 (75 percent) from the line on the day. They scored 36 points in the paint, 15 off of NIU turnovers, and added seven bench points. 
 
As a unit, Ohio averages 62.6 PPG on 22.4 percent shooting from the field. The Bobcats average 28.9 rebounds per contest, for a -13.2 rebound margin per game over their opponents. OU averages 10.8 free throws per game and knocks down 73.6 percent of their attempts from the line. Ohio dishes out 12.4 assists per contest while averaging 9.1 steals per game.

After Wednesday's matchup, the Western Michigan women's basketball team return home to University Arena to face Buffalo on Jan. 21 in a doubleheader with Western Michigan men's basketball. Saturday's matchup features Girl Scout Day with a noon tip-off.
