THE FIRST SERVE
Western Michigan begins Mid-American Conference play this weekend as it welcomes Buffalo to University Arena. The Broncos have won three consecutive conference openers.

LAST TIME OUT
The Broncos finished non-conference play by going 3-0 at the CEFCU Classic in Peoria, Ill. Western Michigan picked up 3-0 wins over St. Thomas and IUPUI, and topped the hosts, Bradley, in four sets.

BRING ON THE BULLS
Like WMU, the Bulls turned in an 8-4 record in non-conference play. UB leads the MAC and is 20th nationally in aces per set, led by sophomore Katrin Trebichavska. Trebichavska sits atop the conference with 27 aces and 0.68 aces/set this season, which rank ninth and 10th, respectively, in the NCAA.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Broncos have had the upper hand in the all-time series against the Bulls, holding a 25-5 advantage. The two teams split last season's meetings in Buffalo, with Western Michigan's four-set win on Nov. 6 its first in Buffalo since 2013.

KING'S REIGN
WMU senior outside hitter Maggie King was named the MVP of last weekend's CEFCU Classic after totaling 43 kills (4.30/set), 32 digs (3.20/set) and eight service aces while posting a .298 hitting percentage. For her performance, King was also named the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week. Through 12 matches, the Cincinnati native has racked up a league-leading 160 kills, and is fourth in the MAC at 3.64 kills/set. Teammate Julia Marr, Western Michigan's other MAC West Offensive Player of the Week thus far in 2022, is just behind King at 3.60 kills/set, which is fifth in the MAC.

SETTING THE TABLE
Setter Logan Case also played a key role in the 3-0 week for the Broncos at the CEFCU Classic and was selected to the All-Tournament Team. The Maineville, Ohio, native handed out 118 assists (11.80/set) to fuel a Western Michigan offense which hit .273 for the weekend. On Monday, Case was named the MAC West Setter of the Week for the second time this season. Heading into the weekend, the junior leads the conference and ranks second nationally with an average of 11.57 assists per set.
