Broncos and Grizzles Battle to 1-1 Tie

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Two goals were scored in the final four minutes as the Western Michigan women's soccer team and Oakland battled to a 1-1 tie on Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex.

WMU (0-3-3) took a 1-0 lead with 4:05 left to play in the game on Reagan Wisser's third goal of the week. Kai Sugiyama played Mira Pierre Webster down the right side of the box. Pierre-Webster won the race to the ball and cut in towards the net, before crossing it to the back post for Wisser to tap in.

The Grizzlies responded just 1:20 later when Kendra Zak hit a low shot from the tip left of the box and it found the back of the net after making its way through traffic.

The Broncos had several chances early in the second half, after being held to just three shots in the first half. The first came shortly after the start of the half, with Jenna Blackburn hitting one off the far post. Bria Telemaque later fired a laser from just outside left-of-center of the box, but OU goalkeeper Haley Lindow just got a finger on it to tip it over the crossbar.

WMU's Hannah Sargent made four saves in net, including a rocket on goal by Jules Karkaba just 56 second into the game.

The Broncos have one more non-conference game left, heading to Marquette next Thursday for an 8 p.m. kickoff.
