WMU Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball program and head coach Colleen Munson unveiled the team's 2022 schedule on Wednesday.

The 30-match regular season slate includes a total of 12 home contests inside University Arena. The Broncos are set to open the season with four non-conference tournaments, including hosting their own in Kalamazoo from Sept. 2-3. Western Michigan faces a pair of 2021 NCAA Tournament participants in reigning MAC champion Ball State and OVC champion Southeast Missouri State.

"I'm very excited to announce our 2022 schedule," coach Munson said. "We've tried to really challenge ourselves in non-conference play in order to prepare ourselves as best as we can for the tough Mid-American Conference schedule."

WMU begins its 2022 campaign the weekend of Aug. 26-27 with a trip to Boulder, Colo. The Broncos face Denver and the host, Colorado, on the opening day of the season, then close the weekend against Green Bay.

Western Michigan begins its home schedule by hosting a two-day tournament at University Arena on Sept. 2-3. WMU's home opener is Friday, Sept. 2, against Wright State, with coach Munson's squad set to face North Dakota and Indiana State the following day.

The Broncos head back out on the road for the final two weeks of non-conference play, beginning in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the weekend of Sept. 9-10 with contests against Northern Iowa, Grand Canyon and Southeast Missouri State. WMU then travels to Peoria, Ill., for its final non-conference weekend, Sept. 16-17, to take on St. Thomas, Bradley and IUPUI.

Western Michigan returns to the friendly confines of University Arena to open up Mid-American Conference play with a two-match series against Buffalo on Sept. 23-24. The first conference road trip of the season sees WMU visit Northern Illinois on Sept. 27, and then head to Akron from Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

The Broncos open up a four-match homestand on Oct. 7 against Miami, with Bowling Green coming to town the following day. Western Michigan then welcomes Toledo to Kalamazoo on Oct. 14-15. WMU closes out the month of October with a four-match road trip, with visits to Ball State (Oct. 21-22), Ohio (Oct. 28) and Kent State (Oct. 29) on the slate.

The final home weekend for the Broncos is set for Nov. 4-5 against Eastern Michigan, with the contest on Nov. 5 scheduled to be Senior Day. The weekend of Nov. 11-12, Western Michigan heads north to battle Central Michigan, before returning to Kalamazoo on Nov. 16 for its regular season finale against Northern Illinois.

The 2022 Mid-American Conference Championship is set for Nov. 20-23. The tournament will be hosted by the league's regular season champion.
