GREENSBORO, N.C. – Western Michigan senior catcher Connor Charping has been named to the 2022 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Midwest All-Region Second Team.

The first Bronco to earn All-Region honors since Tanner Allison in 2017, Charping was named to the All-MAC First Team for the second consecutive year last month after an outstanding senior campaign. The backstop started 53 contests and led the Broncos in batting average (.348), hits (72), runs scored (57) and stolen bases (26). The 57 runs scored were third-most in the MAC and tied for third-most in a single season in WMU history, while the 26 steals led the league, rank 36th nationally, and were the fifth-most in a season in program history. Charping ended his WMU career with 68 stolen bases, third-most in program history.

The Trenton, Mich., native ranked highly in the MAC in several other categories as well, finishing with the seventh-most hits (72), seventh-highest batting average (.348) and 14th-highest on-base percentage (.440). Charping also tallied 17 doubles, tied for ninth-most in the league, to help the Broncos set a single-season program record with 131 two-baggers. Defensively, Charping threw out a conference-best 18 runners trying to steal.
