KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team and head coach
Chad Wiseman have announced the signing of Carson and Tanner Hodgson to National Letters of Intent for the upcoming 2022 season.
Â
The twins hail from Macomb, Mich., where they starred at Anchor Bay High School and played for the Nationals Union club team. Both were named to the MHSAA Dream Team and received First Team All-State as center midfielders, while Tanner was named a High School All-American.
Â
The brothers have Brown & Gold in their blood. Their father Jeff Hodgson was a member of the WMU men's soccer team from 1990-93, was a two-time First Team All-MAC selection and was named the team MVP. Their grandfather played club hockey from 1967-69, prior to the establishment of WMU's varsity program.
Â
"Carson and Tanner were highly recruited in the Midwest and nationally, given the level they play at and the connections their club team has," said Wiseman. "We are thrilled they decided on WMU to continue their playing and academic careers. They will be third generation Bronco athletics student-athletes, which I think is amazing."
Â
"What separates Carson and Tanner from many other players is their soccer IQ. They read the game extremely well and both have a tremendous feel for the game. They're strong on the ball, rarely give it up and are very accountable in possession. They both have great range of passing, the vision to go along with it and the ability to put their teammates in great spots. Carson and Tanner are soccer junkies, they play every day and often times with older players. We expect them both to have an immediate impact within our roster. Bronco fans are going to enjoy what these two bring the field. They will be fun to watch!"
