THE FIRST PITCH
Following a 3-2 homestand, Western Michigan hits the road this weekend for a four-game series at Bowling Green.  The Broncos are 92-66 all-time against the Falcons, and split a four-game series against BGSU in Kalamazoo last year. WMU is making its first trip to Bowling Green since taking two out of three in April of 2019.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Bowling Green enters this weekend's series having dropped six in a row, including a sweep at the hands of the league leaders, Central Michigan, last weekend. BGSU ranks in the top of half of the MAC in both batting (.270) and fielding (.969), but its staff is at the bottom of the conference with an 8.84 ERA. Only Miami (57) has stolen more bases than the Falcons (54) so far in 2022.

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan got its first win of the season over Ball State on Tuesday, throttling the Cardinals 14-2. The Broncos broke a 1-1 tie with a six-run fifth, which included a Cade Sullivan grand slam. WMU then finished off the visitors with a seven-run eighth, capped by a three-run game-ending homer off of the batter's eye by Josh Swinehart

SULLIVAN SLAMS
Cade Sullivan launched a grand slam on his way to a career-high five-RBI performance on Tuesday against Ball State. It was the second grand slam of the season for the sophomore, who also belted one in a win over Bradley back on Feb. 20. Overall, Western Michigan has hit four grand slams so far this season.

BRONCO BOMBS
Western Michigan blasted a trio of home runs on Tuesday, as Justin McIntyre (solo), Cade Sullivan (grand slam) and Josh Swinehart (3R) all went deep to tie the team's single-game season high. For the season, the Broncos have hit 29 homers in 33 games after blasting 44 in 40 games, their most since 2009, in 2021.

NOT JOSHING AROUND
Following a career-high tying three-hit effort in Sunday's finale against Miami, Josh Swinehart blasted a three-run shot off of the batter's eye in center field on Tuesday to tie his career high with three RBIs. In the last 10 games, Swinehart has collected four multi-hit games and raised his batting average 60 points while driving in eight runs.

COUNTING ON CONNOR
Connor Charping is all over the MAC leaderboards, ranking second in the conference in hits (48) and tied for second in runs scored (37). The senior is also third in the MAC in batting average (.369), 12th in OBP (.454) and tied for third in doubles (12).

GAVIN GETS ON BASE
Gavin Doyle drew two more walks on Tuesday against Ball State to move into a tie for third in the league with 27. His .488 on-base percentage is fourth in the MAC.

ETHAN EXCELS IN FIRST START
In the first start of his collegiate career on Tuesday, freshman Ethan Houghtaling limited BSU to one run on four hits over a career-high four-and-a-third innings.

DEALIN' DANE
Dane Armbrustmacher enters the weekend having racked up at least five strikeouts in each of his last five starts. Last weekend, he also picked up his first save of the season, closing out game three against Miami. The left-hander ranks fifth in the MAC in strikeouts (59), sixth in ERA (4.21) and seventh in innings pitched (47.0).

CAN'T CATCH THE CATCHER
After stealing a program-record 32 bases in 2021, senior catcher Connor Charping has stolen 19 bases so far in 2022, which leads the MAC. With his 61 career steals, Charping ranks third in program history.

GETTING ON THE PAINFUL WAY
Justin McIntyre leads the conference in hit by pitches with 16 this season. The senior has been hit 39 times in his career, third-most in Western Michigan program history.
