KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan women's basketball sophomore guard
Lauren Ross continues to add to her season accolades, this time being named Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week.
Ross picked up her second MAC Player of the Week honor yesterday, and completes the clean sweep of weekly awards today. Lauren also continues to have her name in conversation with Bronco great Carrie Moore, as Ross is the first WMU player to earn both Player of the Week and Scholar Athlete of the Week since Moore accomplished the feat back in November of 2006.
Lauren is a psychology major holding an impressive 4.0 grade point average in addition to being Western Michigan's leading scorer this season. This past week, Ross averaged 25.67 PPG and 5.67 RPG in addition to dropping a career-high 37 points in the Broncos' win on the road at Ohio on Saturday. Being that she is only a sophomore, Ross is unsure of what specifically she'd like to do once her days of lighting up the net come to a close, but has her sights set on giving back to the game she loves and staying involved with college basketball.
Ross and Western Michigan take the court tonight, Feb. 16, against the Bowling Green Falcons for a 7 p.m. tip-off inside University Arena. The contest will be available for streaming via ESPN+, and tickets can be found
