KALAMAZOO, Mich. – With just two more meets left until the 2022 Indoor Mid-American Conference Championships, the Western Michigan track and field team makes a visit to the site of the championship, Kent State University, for the Doug Raymond National Qualifier on Friday and Saturday.
For the Broncos, Friday's action beginning at 3:30 p.m. will feature the weight throw, 60-meter hurdles, 5,000-meter run, 200-meter dash, and the 4x800-meter relay. Saturday's action starts at 10:00 a.m. with the shot put, followed by the mile run, 60-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, 3,000-meter run and the 4x400-meter relay.
Western Michigan was last in action last Friday at the GVSU Snowdown Showdown, which saw sophomore Maggie Raab earn her first collegiate win, taking first in the 800-meter run. Her performance moved her into the top 20 on the MAC performance list.
WMU currently has four student-athletes in the top eight of the MAC performance list in freshman Azariah McGee-Grantham in the 60-meter dash, Rebecca McNamee in the mile run, Grace Johnson in the 60-meter hurdles and Taylor Eaton in the weight throw. Johnson is WMU's highest-ranked athlete, currently sitting fourth in the hurdles with a time of 8.65 seconds.
Western Michigan heads to the Alex Wilson Invitational next Saturday before returning the KSU for the MAC Championships Feb. 25-26.
