KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan track and field and cross country program and interim head coach
Kevin Cataldo are excited to announce the signings of Madison Clor (Bruce Township, Mich./Romeo HS) and Lilly Zalesko (North Liberty, Ind./New Prairie HS) to National Letters of Intent for the 2023-24 season.
"Both Lilly and Madison will look to have an immediate impact for us," said Cataldo. "I feel like they will add more depth to our teams and really close our gap on our 1-5 spread in cross country. In addition, I think their personalities exemplify who we are looking for as people as we build this program."
Clor was the winner of three cross country meets this past season, and finished in second place in four more. She comes to WMU with a personal-best 5k time of 18:07.
"I'm excited about the addition of Madison," said Cataldo. "Her work ethic is outstanding and she is extremely consistent in her performances. She's a smart and gutsy racer that is consistently in the front pack."
Zalesko was the winner of six of her 10 meets during her senior cross country season, while finishing in the top three in nine of them. In three of the meets she broke the 18:00 mark and has a personal-best time of 17:46.
"We're excited to add Lilly to the team," Cataldo added. "She has an excellent work ethic and knows how to put herself at the front of the race and in position to win."
