NEW CASTLE, Ind. – Former Western Michigan University men's basketball player Steve Reynolds has been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2023 Silver Anniversary Team. The team honors 17 players and their accomplishments as high school seniors in the state of Indiana in 1998.
Reynolds starred at South Bend Riley, where he scored 759 points in three seasons and was a Second Team All-NIC selection in 1998. Following his high school career, Reynolds attended Treasure Valley Community College before transferring to Western Michigan.
During his two seasons as a Bronco (2000-02), Reynolds averaged 15.9 points per game and played an average of 31.7 minutes, the fifth-highest career average in WMU program history, across 58 games.
As a senior at Western Michigan, Reynolds led the Broncos and finished ninth in the conference in scoring at 16.9 points per game on the way to an All-MAC Second Team selection. Throughout the 2001-02 campaign, the South Bend, Ind., native had 30 or more points four times, including a career-high 35-point effort at Kent State, during which he hit a then-school record tying eight three-pointers.
Reynolds is currently the Head Girls Basketball Coach at South Bend Washington, where he has compiled a 119-81 record across eight seasons and won the 2022 Class 3A State Championship.
