KENT, Ohio – Maggie King tallied a match-high 21 kills and added 14 digs while Western Michigan hit .306 as a team to close out its road trip with a 3-1 win (25-15, 25-27, 25-13, 25-19) over Kent State on Saturday.

King's double-double was her team-leading 11th of the season. The senior's 21 kills marked her fourth match of 20+ kills this season and extended her streak of double-digits kills to eight in a row. The senior hit .370 for the contest, and was one of four Broncos to record at least eight kills and post a hitting percentage over .300.
Anna Calcagno recorded a career-high 18 kills while hitting .394, with
Mary Clare Brusek notching a career-high 10 kills on a .375 hitting percentage.
Amanda Glanton's .353 mark led to eight kills.
Logan Case handed out 60 assists for the evening, reaching the 60-assist mark for the third time this season. The junior has collected 30 or more helpers in 38 consecutive contests for the Broncos.
Andelyn Simkins registered a team-high 22 digs in the contest to mark her fourth straight match with at least 20 digs and her 15th in a row in double-digits. Joining Simkins in double-figures for WMU were
Reeghan Boyer (13) and
Mairead Boyle (11).
In the opening frame, Western Michigan used a 9-2 stretch to break an early 3-3 deadlock and grab a 12-5 advantage. Leading 13-7, the Broncos went on an 8-2 run to extend the margin to 21-9 and put the first set beyond reach.
Kent State jumped out to a 12-7 lead to begin the second set, but WMU countered with a 6-1 surge to get back even at 13-13. With the two tied again at 18-18, the Golden Flashes tallied four points in a row to move back ahead, 22-18. At 24-22, Western Michigan fought off a pair of set points to once again level the score at 24-24. The Broncos withstood two more set points, but KSU eventually won the frame, 27-25, to even the match at one set apiece.
A 7-1 surge helped Western Michigan get out to an 11-4 lead in the third set. The Broncos eventually built the cushion into double-digits at 19-9, and cruised from there to take a 2-1 match advantage into the fourth frame.
The Broncos rattled off seven consecutive points early in the fourth set to seize an 11-7 edge. The Golden Flashes closed to within two at 17-15, but Western Michigan answered with the next four to push its lead to 21-15. KSU got as close as 22-19, but WMU notched the ensuing three points to close out the victory.
