Cross Country Heads to the MAC Championship

ATHENS, Ohio – The Western Michigan cross country team heads down to Ohio University for the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday at the Ohio University Golf Course.

The women's 6k race is set for 11 a.m. and can be watched live on ESPN+. Live timing can also be found here.

WMU is looking to improve its standing in the conference after finishing in 11th place last two seasons.  The Broncos have made strides this season under interim head coach Kevin Cataldo, finishing ahead of many of its MAC competitors at the Spartan Invitational and Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational.

Individually, the Broncos have been led most of the season by graduate transfer Kayla Schiera. Schiera paced WMU at three of the four regular season meets, including an eighth-place finish at Notre Dame. Fellow graduate transfer Makayla Perez also returns from injury to compete for the first time since winning the Valparaiso Winrow Open at the start of the season. Senior Annalise James has been in WMU's top five all season long, including running a new 6k personal-best time of 21:52.5 at the Bradley Pink Classic. James also ran a personal-best 5k time at the Joe Piane Invitaitonal
