OXFORD, Ohio – The Western Michigan women's soccer team fell on the road at Miami Ohio, 1-0, on Thursday afternoon.
The Broncos (3-6-5, 3-2-2 MAC) outshot the RedHawks 14-13 on the day, with
Jenna Blackburn leading the team with five shots, landing three on goal.
Hannah Sargent made eight saves in the loss.
The teams battled to a scoreless tie at the half but Madeline Schlecht broke the stalemate in the 68th minute on her fourth goal of the season. Camber Hayes set up the game-winning goal.
WMU picked up the pressure in the second half, firing off nine of its 14 shots in the final 45 minutes but were unable to get the ball through Miami keeper Izzie Vaccari.
Western Michigan returns home on Sunday at 1 p.m. to host Eastern Michigan for Senior Day. The Broncos will take time prior to kick off to honor their senior class.
