Case, King Earn Player of the Week Honors

CLEVELAND – Logan Case and Maggie King of the Western Michigan University volleyball team have been selected as the MAC West Setter and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Case was named MAC West Setter of the Week for the second week in a row and third time this season after compiling 92 assists (13.14/set) and 23 digs (3.29/set) in WMU's two wins at Eastern Michigan. The sophomore opened the series against the Eagles with 55 assists and 12 digs in a four-set victory, then followed that up the next day with 37 assists and 11 digs as Western Michigan won 3-0. With double-doubles in both contests, Case has recorded double-doubles in four straight matches and has posted a team-leading eight overall this season. The Maineville, Ohio, native leads the MAC and ranks fourth nationally in assists/set at 11.51.

The MAC West Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, King led the Broncos in kills in both of its wins over EMU, tallying 24, one shy of her career high, on a .327 hitting percentage in the opener, and then 16 on a .375 hitting percentage in the series finale. The junior also chipped in 15 digs over the two contests, coming one dig shy of a double-double in Thursday's victory over Eastern Michigan. King currently leads the conference with 3.98 kills/set.

WMU (9-4, 2-0) begins a three-match homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 28, against Northern Illinois. First serve is set for 6 pm at University Arena. Fans can purchase tickets at wmubroncos.com/tickets.
