Broncos Fall Late at No. 14 Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team fell late on the road at No. 14 Kentucky, 1-0, on Sunday evening.

The lone goal came in the 74th minute with Brock Lindow knocking in a rebound off of a shot by Lucca Rodrigues.

The Broncos had chances late to tie the game, including Dylan Sing getting deep into the box but having his cross cleared at the last second. WMU also had a late header by Mike Melaragni go just over the cross bar in the final minutes. Western Michigan had seven total shots on the night, with three landing on net.

"The performance on the day was exactly what we were looking for," said head coach Chad Wiseman. "We were up for the fight and for stretches in the first half I thought we did a great job taking the fight to Kentucky. There was a 20-minute stretch in the second half were Kentucky just had us pinned in our end. They are a very good team, top 15 in the nation for a reason and they found their goal during that period of time."

Junior goalkeeper Isaac Walker made four saves in the loss.

Western Michigan comes back to Kalamazoo to host Sacramento State on Friday at 5 p.m. Admission is free and the game can a watched for free via Bronco All-Access at www.wmubroncos.com/watch.
