Case & King Named Preseason All-MAC West

Broncos voted to finish third in the west by the league's coaches

CLEVELAND -- Western Michigan volleyball players Logan Case and Maggie King have been selected Preseason All-MAC West Division by the coaches of the Mid-American Conference.

Case is a sophomore setter who racked up accolades during her rookie campaign. The Maineville, Ohio, native was AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention, MAC Co-Setter of the Year, MAC Freshman of the Year and a MAC All-Tournament Team selection. She led the nation with 12.27 assist per set, while her 1,018 total assists on the year ranked second in the nation and led the league.

King was a first-team All-MAC selection last season as a junior. The Cincinnatian was eighth in the league with 3.59 kills per set while hitting at a .244 clip. She recorded 17 double-digit kill performances including in the final 13 matches of the season.

Case and King helped the Broncos to an 18-5 record this spring after the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the Fall 2020 season to 2021. Western won the West Division title and defeated Ohio in the MAC Semifinals before dropping the title match to Bowling Green in four sets.

As a team, WMU was voted to finish third in the West behind Central Michigan and Ball State. The Broncos received three first-place votes, equal to the Cardinals and just a pair behind CMU's five. Bowling Green was unanimously selected to win the East Division while the Falcons also received 10 votes to win the MAC Tournament. Western Michigan and Kent State each received one vote to win the tournament.

Colleen Munson opens her 17th season at the helm of the WMU program this fall when the Broncos begin the year at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan. After opening with host Michigan State on Friday, Aug. 27 (7 p.m.), WMU also faces Wright State and Canisius on Saturday, Aug. 28.
