LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Western Michigan volleyball team have earned the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 season.
 
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
 
This is the seventh time the team has earned the honors under head coach Colleen Munson. The Broncos had five student-athletes, Charley Andrews, Rachel Bontrager, Maggie King, Meredith Phillips and Cassandra Smigiel, earn Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors this season. Bontrager was also named a First Team COSIDA Academic All-District selection.
