Men's Soccer Announces 2021 Schedule

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan men's soccer team and head coach Chad Wiseman have announced the schedule for the upcoming 2021 season. 

WMU will have nine home games during the campaign with non-conference tilts against Butler, Fort Wayne, Sacramento State, Oakland, Michigan State and Detroit. Trips to Virginia, Wisconsin and Kentucky highlight the road non-conference schedule. 

The Broncos kick off the season with the Brown and Gold game on Friday, Aug. 13 at 5 p.m. The regular season opens with five straight road games at Cleveland State, Wright State, Virginia, Loyola Chicago and Wisconsin. The regular season home-opener comes against the Bulldogs on Monday, Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. 

Western Michigan welcomes the Mastodons on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m., with SSU coming to the WMU Soccer Complex on Friday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. to kickoff Alumni Weekend. The Broncos will host Northern Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 12 p.m. for their Mid-American Conference opener, as well as celebrating their senior class prior to the start. The NIU game kicks off a four-game homestand with the Grizzlies visiting on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m., Michigan State on Oct. 13 at 4:30 p.m. and West Virginia on Oct. 16 at 12 p.m. 

The first road trip in MAC play comes against new conference members Georgia State and Georgia Southern on Oct. 21 and 23. The Broncos take a brief break from conference play to host the Titans on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. WMU closes out MAC play with a trip to BGSU on Oct. 30 before the regular season finale at home on Nov. 4 against Akron at 4 p.m.

The MAC Tournament returns after a pause due to COVID-19, with the semifinals taking place on Nov. 10 and the MAC Championship game on Nov. 13.
