KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its Baseball All-District teams on Thursday with Western Michigan baseball's
Connor Charping and
Sean O'Keefe earning First Team All-District honors.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District baseball team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes from their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. First Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late July.
Charping earned Academic All-District honors after posting a 3.87 GPA in Biomedical Sciences. The junior catcher played and started in all 50 games for the Broncos and ended the season with a .355 batting average, the fifth best mark in the MAC. Charping led WMU in batting average, runs (42), hits (65) and stolen bases en route to earning First Team All-MAC honors.
Charping's 32 stolen bases was the most in a single-season in school history. The Trenton, Mich., native ended the regular season ranking fourth in the NCAA in stolen bases and ninth in stolen bases per game.
O'Keefe was named Academic All-District after posting a 3.82 GPA in Sales & Business Marketing. O'Keefe led the Broncos in home runs (8) and RBIs (43) with his eight home runs being tied for the fourth most in the Mid-American Conference.
The Saline, Mich., native registered 18 multi-hit games this season and led WMU with 12 multi-RBI games. O'Keefe ranked fifth in the MAC with 43 RBIs to earn Second Team All-MAC honors.
