KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Phil Steele, publisher of one of the leading college football preview magazines in the country, has named 15 Western Michigan football players to his 2021 Preseason All-Mid-American Conference teams. Defensive tackle
Ralph Holley and long snapper
Bryce Bouwens lead the way as first team selections, seven Broncos composed the second team offense and defense.
Head coach
Tim Lester's fifth edition team paces the MAC with 15 picks and is one of six programs to reach double-digit selections. The 15 Broncos slotted Western just ahead of Central Michigan (14), Eastern Michigan (13), Northern Illinois (13), Ball State (13) and Toledo (13). The six teams that reached double-digit selections are the six members of the MAC West Division, meaning Western will face all five of those schools in 2021.

Western Michigan opens its 2021 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 4, at Michigan (Noon ET on ESPN). The home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 11, versus Illinois State. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. ET.Â
