KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- In accordance with the Mid-American Conference and its television partners, Western Michigan has announced several kickoff times for the 2021 season. This includes two road, nonconference games which were likewise announced by the home teams.
Head coach
Tim Lester's squad will open the 2021 campaign at Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 4, with a Noon ET kickoff on ESPN. That will be followed by the home opener on Saturday, Sept. 11, when the Broncos host Illinois State at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN3. Western will then visit Pitt on Saturday, Sept. 18, with a Noon ET kickoff at Heinz Field that will be seen on regional coverage and ACC Network Extra.
In addition, selected MAC game times and networks were announced. The conference opener at Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 2, will kickoff at Noon ET, while the Saturday, Oct. 16, home game against Kent State is set for 3:30 p.m. The contest with the Golden Flashes will be WMU's annual homecoming game. Television networks for those games will be announced at a later date.
When the Broncos switch to midweek #MACtion in November, that will begin with rival Central Michigan visiting Waldo Stadium on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2 or ESPNU). The Tuesday, Nov. 9, home finale against Akron will get underway at either 7 or 8 p.m. ET, with the broadcast set for ESPN2, ESPNU or CBSSN. WMU's visit to Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, Nov. 16, will begin at either 7:30 or 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPN+, while the regular-season finale at Northern Illinois will begin at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT) and will air on ESPNU or ESPN+.
