KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- A few members of the Western Michigan Track and Field team make a quick trip up to Allendale, Mich., and Grand Valley State for the Al Owens Classic on Saturday.

The trio of
Juliane Sormain,
Rebecca McNamee and
Ashley Shipps open the day up competing in the 1,500-meter run at 1:15 p.m. Sormain, who holds the fifth-fastest time in the 800-meter run, competes in the race for the first time this season.

McNamee is also set to compete in the 800 run at 3 p.m., while sophomore
Kailyn Mince wraps up the meet running in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 4:20 p.m. Mince competed in the steeplechase two weeks ago at the Western Kentucky Hilltopper Relays, recording a personal-best time of 12:26.05 and taking fourth place.

Western Michigan heads to Hillsdale College next weekend for the 54th running of the Hillsdale GINA Relays on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
