KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team looks to get back to its winning ways as it makes a trip through Ohio this weekend to take on Miami on Friday and Bowling Green on Sunday.
Both matches are set for 1 p.m.
WMU lost two straight for the first time this season, falling in a pair of really tight matches 4-3 at Toledo and 4-3 at home against Buffalo. Both matches came down to three-set singles match. Despite the losses the Broncos are 5-3 in MAC play and are in third place behind a 6-3 Toledo. Ball State leads the conference with an 8-0 record.
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
Miami is 7-10 overall this season but just 1-7 in conference play. The RedHawks have dropped their last four matches but have been tougher at home, with a 7-3 record in Oxford.
Laura Rico leads the team with 11 wins in singles play and an 11-4 record overall. She is 3-1 at No. 1 and 8-3 at No. 2. Mackenzie Meyers has an 8-7 record with most of her wins coming at No. 5. Brindtha Ramasamy and Rico are 5-4 in doubles, all at No. 1, to lead the team.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Bowling Green is 5-4 in MAC play and has gone 2-2 in its last four matches. Last weekend the Falcons downed Eastern Michigan 7-0 before falling to Ball State 5-2. BGSU is 5-2 at home this season.
ON THE HORIZON
WMU hosts Eastern Michigan on Friday at 1 p.m. next weekend before heading to Ball State for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday.
