WMU Closes Regular Season at Home Against Kent State

KALAMAZOO, Mich.  –  In the final two matches of the regular season the Western Michigan volleyball team hosts Kent State, March 26-27 inside University Arena.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan enters the final weekend of the regular season with an overall and Mid-American Conference record of 15-4. The 15 MAC wins is tied for the fourth most in school history. WMU is coming off a sweep (25-13, 25-18, 25-23) over Northern Illinois on Tuesday.

Senior Day Saturday
Following Saturday's match with the Golden Flashes the Western Michigan volleyball program will honor its five seniors Rachel Bontrager, Kaley Smith, Cassandra Smigiel, Janell Williams and Charley Andrews.

Broncos the No.2 Seed
With its win over Northern Illinois on Tuesday, the Broncos clinched the No.2 seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament hosted by Bowling Green, April 2-3.

Need An Assist
Freshman Logan Case leads the NCAA with 12.14 assists per set. Case's 838 total assists leads the MAC and ranks third in the nation.

Leaders of the MAC
Western Michigan is proving to be one of the best offensive teams in the conference, leading the MAC in hitting percentage (.256), assists (13.61) and kills (14.72).

Dynamic Duo
The duo of senior Rachel Bontrager and sophomore Maggie King have combined to record 542 kills this season. Bontrager leads the Broncos and the MAC with 312 kills while King ranks second on the team with 230. The duo has registered 53.3 percent of WMU's total kills this season.

First Set Success
When winning the first set this season, Western Michigan has an overall record of 14-0.

How Sweep It Is
The Broncos have registered eight three-set victories this season, the most since having eight back in 2014.

What's Ahead?
Following this weekend's matches the Broncos will travel to Bowling Green as the No.2 seed for the Mid-American Conference Tournament, April 2-3. The top four overall teams make the MAC tournament with the semifinal matches being held on Friday, April 2 and the MAC championship being held on Saturday, April 3.
