MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 2-0 at Central Michigan on Thursday afternoon.

Maggie Rogers made seven saves on the day but the Broncos (2-1-1) were outshot 19-9 overall and 11-0 in the first half.

The teams battled to a 0-0 tie after the first 45 minutes but CMU scored early in the second half in the 49th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Amanda Britain chipped a shot from the edge of the box over Rogers and into the net. It was the first goal the Broncos had allowed this season.

WMU turned up the pressure, outshooting the Chippewas 9-5 in the second half, landing three on goal. Sophomore forward
Suzuna Shibukawa led the Broncos with two on goal and sophomore winger
Reagan Wisser had the other.

Central Michigan put the game out of reach with another goal in the 82nd minute, with Samantha Kaye-Toral capitalizing to make it 2-0.

The Broncos return to Kalamazoo to host Toledo on Sunday at 2 p.m. The game will be played at the WMU Soccer Complex. Spectators must be on the pass list in order to attend. No general admission will be allowed at this time.
