CINCINNATI, Ohio – Despite two runs in the top of the ninth inning the Western Michigan baseball team rally fell short in a 7-5 loss in game two of its three-game series with Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon inside UC Baseball Stadium.

Continuing his strong weekend Sean O'Keefe went 1-for-5 at the plate with one RBI. Third baseman Gavin Doyle also registered a hit on the Saturday going 1-for-2 with one run scored and drawing two walks.

On the mound the Broncos used three different pitchers totaling five strikeouts. Starting RHP Brady Miller went three innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits with one

The Broncos with an overall record of 0-5 will conclude its three-game series with Cincinnati on Sunday, March 14. First pitch for game three is set for 1:00 p.m.

Western Michigan got on the board first in the top of the first as WMU had runners on first and second with one out. Sean O'Keefe delivered with a single to left field, scoring Drew Devine from second to give the Broncos an early 1-0 lead.

Cincinnati responded in the bottom of the first with two runs on two hits. A sacrifice fly to center field tied the game at 1-1. One batter later, a single to left field scored another Bearcat runner to give Cincinnati a 2-1 lead.

The Broncos responded once again in the top of the second as the Brown & Gold had runners on second and third with two outs. Justin McIntyre delivered a clutch two RBI double off the left field wall, clearing the bases and giving WMU a 3-2 advantage.

Cincinnati regained and extended its lead during the middle innings of game two on Saturday. The Bearcats scored two runs in the third and sixth innings along with a run in the seventh to gain a 7-3 lead through seven innings.

Western Michigan trailed four heading into the top of the ninth before a Connor Charping walk led off the top of the ninth. After a strikeout with one out, senior Drew Devine blasted a two-run home run over the left field wall to cut the Bronco deficit down to two.
