Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan returns to the baseball diamond after a 356-day hiatus this weekend. The Broncos return a potent offense that last year ranked 12th in the NCAA at 8.6 runs per game. WMU also ranked 24th in the nation with 129 total runs scored.

Series History
This will be the third, fourth and fifth meetings between WMU and Kansas State with the Broncos trailing the all-time series 0-2. It will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2010.

WMU Against the Big 12
WMU has played 18 games against opponents from the Big 12 Conference, registering an overall record of 5-11-2.

Consider it Dunn
Leading the offense in 2021 is junior outfielder Blake Dunn who was named the MAC Preseason Player of the Year by D1Baseball.com. In 15 games last season Dunn recorded a .288 batting average and led WMU in home runs (2), RBIs (17) and stolen bases (15). Prior to the 2020 season Dunn was named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List, an award given annuallly to the top amateur baseball player in the country.

Cruising on the Base Paths
The Broncos last season ranked 15th in the NCAA in stolen bases (35) and 12th in stolen bases per game (2.3). Junior Blake Dunn was 11-of-13 in stolen base attempts last year with his 11 stolen bases marking the 10th most in the NCAA.

Steady on the Mound
Leading WMU on the mound is RHP Easton Sikorski who led WMU last year with a 3-1 record and a 2.13 ERA. Sikorski also led the team with 20 strikeouts.

Welcome Back Drew Devine
After sitting out last season due to injury, senior infielder Drew Devine will return to the Broncos in 2021. Devine in 2019 was a Second Team All-MAC performer and registered a .359 batting average.

Double Digit Run Factory
The Broncos scored double digit runs in five of their 15 games last season. WMU scored a school-record 32 runs back on Feb. 22, 2020 at Alabama A&M.

Road to 2,000
Western Michigan is just two wins away from clinching 2,000 wins as a program. With two wins the Broncos can become just the second team in Mid-American Conference history to reach 2,000 wins.

Scouting Kansas State
Kansas State heads into the weekend with an overall record of 2-2 after defeating Oregon State and Gonzaga last weekend at the Sanderson Ford College Classic. The Wildcats have one of the best starting pitching staffs in the nation led by sophomore LHP and 2021 Golden Spikes Award Watch List member Jordan Wicks. Wicks had 10 strikeouts against Oregon State on Opening Day and was named the NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week.

Offensively in four games last weekend the Wildcats scored 17 runs on 24 hits with five doubles and as a team had a .320 on-base percentage. Nick Goodwin leads KSU with a .417 batting average to go along with two runs scored, one double and four RBIs.
