ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Western Michigan track and field day wrapped up the Friday Big Meet at Grand Valley State's Kelly Family Sports Center.
Several Broncos had personal-best performances on the day, including freshman
Sarinity Bracey. Bracey set a new mark in the 60-meter hurdles. After running a time of 8.89 in the preliminaries, she improved to 8.82 in the finals to take fifth place.
"Sarinity is a great competitor," said head Coach
Makiba Batten. "She is working hard to fix her start out of the blocks."
Senior
Rebecca McNamee recorded a personal-best in the mile for the second time this season. McNamee bested her old PR by nearly three seconds, running a time of 5:01.42 on Saturday. The time also moved her up to ninth on MAC Performance list. Also competing in the mile run were sophomore
Annalise James and junior
Courtney Allen. James finished with a time of 5:13.74, while Allen finished at 5:21.21.
WMU's thrower group of
Taylor Eaton,
Aniya Davis and
Madison Ochs had strong performances in the weight throw. Eaton had a personal-best performance for the second straight week, this time throwing a distance of 60' 6.75" (18.46m). Davis threw over 56 feet for the fourth time this season, reaching a distance of 56" 1.25". Ochs had a personal-best distance of 55' 5".
Also reaching a personal-best on the day was senior
Charlotte Ramser in the 3,000-meter run. Ramser ran a time of 10:50.71 as WMU's top finisher in the event.
The Broncos head back up to Allendale for the Saturday Big Meet.
