Women's Tennis Heads to St. Bonaventure

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team heads out to the state of New York to take on St. Bonaventure in a double-header on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
 
The Broncos are off to a 3-0 start after opening the season with a double-header sweep of Ferris State and a road win at Valparaiso last Saturday.

SCOUTING THE BONNIES
St. Bonaventure is 0-2 on the season, losing matches to Buffalo and Duquesne last weekend. This is the first meeting between the two schools.
 
Sofia Franco and Paula Velilla are the lone two athletes to win matches so far in singles play. Both have 1-1 records with Franco competing at No. 2 and Velilla at No. 6.
 
ICYMI
Sophomore Lindsey Zieglar earned some early season accolades, claiming MAC Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week after her performance in WMU's win over VALPO. It's the second time Zieglar has earned the honors in her career.
 
The Daytona Beach, Fla., native is 3-0 in singles play on the season. She is 2-0 at No. 1 and 1-0 at No. 2. Zieglar is also undefeated in doubles play. She has twice been paired with Kristina Tiraspolsky, posting a 2-0 record.
 
ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan returns home to take on Wayne State on Wednesday at 1 p.m. and then hosts Kansas City on Saturday.
