Bronco Women's Basketball Announces Signing of Alli Carlson for 2022-23 Season

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan women's basketball and head coach Shane Clipfell are happy to announce the signing of East Grand Rapids High School guard Alli Carlson on a National Letter of Intent to join the Broncos next season.

On the court, Carlson's accolades speak for themselves as she has earned all-conference honors and Grand Rapids Dream Team selections in each of her three seasons thus far. She has also received Division I All-State honors from the Associated Press, Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, and BCAM's Best.

Coach Clipfell has high praise for the latest addition to his program and her abilities on the court: "We know we are getting a winner in Alli Carlson. She has a motor that is a combination of the strength of a diesel and the speed of a high end race car. She has a very high skill set and when you combine her competitiveness with her skill set you have the makings of a special player. She has a unique ability to make others better and her competitive drive will be contagious!"

Carlson comes to WMU with a strong head on her shoulders, receiving a Bronco merit scholarship for having earned a 4.33 GPA in her time at EGRHS. Additionally, Alli earned a spot on the honor roll throughout every semester of high school, as well as academic high honors each year. The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan named Carlson to their Academic All-State team as well.

Coach Clipfell knows just how special a player with that much drive academically can be for his program: "She gets it done in the classroom which will carry over to her being a great ambassador for our program and our university. We are super stoked she has chosen to be a Bronco and our fans will quickly fall in love with the way she plays the game."

Clipfell and the Broncos are back in action this Sunday against the Purdue Boilermakers. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and can be viewed on the Big Ten Network.
