KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan cross country team heads across the state for the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by Eastern Michigan at Eagle Crest Country Club on Saturday afternoon.
The women's 6k race begins at 12 p.m.
The Broncos will send out a lineup of Rebecca McNamee, Annalise James, Brooke Soper, Alayna Ostling, Kailyn Mince, Delaney Knoll and Ashley Shipps. For freshmen Ostling and Knoll it will be their first MAC Championships.
James, Ostling, and Soper all head into Saturday's race on the backs of personal-best times in the 6k at the Bradley Pink Classic back on Oct. 15. McNamee earned Second Team All-MAC honors at last season's MAC Championship after finishing eighth overall.
Western Michigan has had a different runner pace them in three of the four regular season meets this season. Knoll was the top finisher for the Broncos at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Invitational, McNamee was the top runner at the John McNichols Invitational and the Bradley Pink Classic, while James paced the Broncos at the Joe Piane Invitational.
WMU returns to action in two weeks at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship in Evansville Ind., on Friday, Nov. 12.
