Volleyball Hosts Ohio, Kent State This Weekend

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan volleyball team is back at University Arena this Friday and Saturday to take on Ohio and Kent State.

WMU hosts its Dig Pink match on Friday at 6 pm against Ohio, with all fans encouraged to wear pink to help raise awareness and support metastatic breast cancer research. On Saturday, the Broncos face Kent State at 3 pm, with pre-match trick-or-treating and a costume contest. Fans can purchase tickets here.

Friday's contest will be streamed live on ESPN+, while Saturday's will be available on ESPN3.

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan lost both of its matches against MAC West leader Ball State last weekend to slip into a tie for second in the division. In Saturday's defeat, setter Logan Case totaled 30 assists and 11 digs for her team-leading 11th double-double.

WEST VS EAST
WMU looks to snap a three-match slide this weekend as it welcomes Ohio and Kent State to Kalamazoo. The weekend marks the beginning of six straight against the East Division for the Broncos before the team's regular season finale at NIU. WMU is 1-1 against the East this year, having won in Oxford at Miami and lost at Bowling Green.

THE OPPONENTS
Western Michigan begins its East Division swing against Ohio and Kent State. The Bobcats are in second in the East and had a five-match winning streak snapped over the weekend against Akron. Kent State is right behind Ohio in third in the East. OU's Sam Steele ranks second in the MAC in digs/set at 5.05, while KSU's duo of Ainsley Guse and Danie Tyson are tied for sixth in blocks/set (1.03).

ALL-TIME SERIES
Western Michigan owns a 35-24-1 all-time mark against Ohio. In their most recent meeting, the Broncos knocked off the Bobcats in four sets back in April to advance to the MAC Championship match against Bowling Green. WMU is 39-16 all-time against Kent State, and has won three straight matchups with the Golden Flashes.

SETTING THE TABLE
WMU setter Logan Case continued to rack up the assists against Ball State, collecting 67 (11.17/set) against the Cardinals. The sophomore remains on top of the Mid-American Conference in assists/set at 11.45, which also ranks fourth in the nation.

CHASING 2000
Case enters this weekend's action with 1911 assists in her Western Michigan career, meaning she needs just 89 to reach the 2000-mark. The sophomore is looking to become the first Bronco to reach 2000 career assists since Mary Murphy (2015-18) eclipsed the mark during her sophomore campaign, 2016. Murphy went on to become WMU's all-time assist leader with 4501 career helpers.

ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan hits the road next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5-6, to take on Buffalo. First serve for Friday's series opener against the Bulls is slated for 6 pm.
