YPSILANTI/ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team wrapped up the opening days of the Eagles Invitational at Eastern Michigan and the Wolverine Invitational at the University of Michigan on Friday.
Over in Ann Arbor the Broncos picked up a win in doubles action.
Karin Hamilton and
Lindsey Zieglar defeated Notre Dame's Meghan Coleman and Katherine Bellia 6-3.
At EMU
Kaitlyn Rogosch earned a first-round victory over Anais Ruyssen of Keiser University 6-2, 7-6 (3) but fell in the second round to Mariya Polishchuk from Ball State 7-5, 6-1.
Maya Perkucin made quick work of Elizaveta Velichko of Northwood 6-0, 6-3 and will compete in the second round on Saturday.
Kristina Tiraspolsky picked up two wins, defeating Katrina Rand 0-6, 6-3, (10-8), and Emily Desai from BSU 7-5, 7-6 (9) to advance to the Flight 6 finals. In Flight 7
Elizabeth Trupp beat Carla Jewell 2-6, 6-3 (12-10) and will compete again on Saturday.
Taylor Smith picked up a win in Flight 8 over Samantha Sweet 7-6 (1), 6-0 to advance to the semifinals on Saturday.
In doubles play Tiraspolsky and Smith earned a win over Resor and Hadler, 6-1, to advance to the semifinals in the Swoop bracket.
The Broncos have a full day of action ahead of them on Saturday.
