ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Western Michigan track and field team wrapped up its second meet of the indoor season, competing at the Grand Valley State University Mike Lints Alumni Open on Saturday.

Junior Madison Ochs took seventh overall in the shot put to highlight the field events for the Broncos. Ochs threw a distance of 41'6.5" (12.66 meters). Ochs also ended up with a new personal best in the weight throw after reaching a distance of 52'4" (15.95m). Senior Aniya Davis was WMU's top performer in the event with a ninth place finish and a distance of 56'11.50" (17.36m).

Freshman Sarinity Bracey took second overall in the 60-meter hurdles finals for WMU's top overall finish on the day. Bracey ran a time of 8.99 seconds to qualify for the finals and followed it up with a time of 9.0 seconds flat. Fellow freshman Ahvon Mitchell took fifth overall with a time of 9.06 seconds.Â

Senior Rebecca McNamee continued her strong start to the season. After winning the mile run and the 800-meter run at Central Michigan she went up in distance, competing in the 3,000-meter run on Saturday. McNamee finished with a time of 9:59.04, a new indoor personal best, and took eighth overall.

Trinity Bracey was WMU's top finisher in the 200-meter dash. The freshman sprinter finished with a time of 25.83 seconds to take 10th overall. Sarinity Ran a time of 26.49 and Ahvon ran 27.01. Claira Gilchrist competed in the 400-meter dash, running a time of 1:03.04 and taking 10th overall.

In the middle distance events Ashley Shipps paced the Broncos in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.58 and Courtney Allen was WMU's top finisher in the mile run with a time of 5:14.72.

WMU has a week off before heading to the University of Akron to compete at the 17th Annual Akron Invitational on Feb. 5-6.
