Biek Signs with FC Tucson

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Former Western Michigan defender Sam Biek has signed a professional soccer contract with FC Tucson, according to an announcement by the organization. FC Tucson is part of the USL League One, just a tier below the USL Championship league.

Biek earned first team All-Mid-American Conference accolades after joining the Broncos in 2019 as a graduate student. He started all 19 matches and was named to the United Soccer Coaches' All-North Region second team at the conclusion of the season.

The 6-foot-3 native of Marburg, Germany, collected three goals on the season to lead all WMU defenders. He scored the game winning goal at Green Bay on September 8.

Before arriving at Western Michigan, Biek played in 63 career games at Bethel University, scoring 20 goals and recording four assists. He capped his time as a Pilot by earning United Soccer Coaches' and National Christian College Athletic Association All-America first team honors.

Following the 2019 WMU season, Biek took part in December's two-day Midwest Pro Combine in Brighton, Mich.

FC Tucson is scheduled to open its season on July 25 against Fort Lauderdale CF. Every game of the 2020 League One season can be viewed in the United States on ESPN+, with international viewers able to take in all the action on YouTube.
