KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan football had 11 student-athletes named to the
Athlon Sports' All-Mid-American Conference preseason team, according to an announcement by the publication.

The Broncos' 11 selections were tied for the second most in the league, trailing only 12 picks for Central Michigan.

Headlining the WMU group were four first-team selections. Returning All-America linebacker and 2019 MAC Defensive Player of the Year
Treshaun Hayward and 2019 second-team All-MAC selection
Ali Fayad represented the defense on the top squad while a pair of All-MAC honorees from last season were first team picks on offense with wide receiver
Skyy Moore and offensive tackle
Jaylon Moore.

Mike Caliendo and cornerback
Patrick Lupro earned
Athlon second team nods while defensive tackle
Ralph Holley was a third-team honoree. At the end of the 2019 campaign, Caliendo earned second team All-MAC accolades while Lupro was a third-team pick.

Athlon selections were four fourth-team choices: quarterback
Kaleb Eleby, running back
Sean Tyler, all-purpose player
D'Wayne Eskridge and punter
Nick Mihalic.
Western Michigan is set to kick off the 2020 season at home on Friday, September 4, against Colgate. Game time has yet to be determined.
