KALAMAZOO, Mich. – This upcoming weekend would have marked the final home series of the 2020 season for Western Michigan baseball, squaring off with Mid-American Conference foe Kent State at Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field.
We take a look back at a few memorable moments between Western Michigan and Kent State:

May 29, 2016: WMU Captures First MAC Tournament Title over Kent State, 12-7
The Broncos defeated No.1 seed Kent State, 12-7 to capture their first MAC Tournament title and first NCAA Tournament appearance in 26 years. All-American Keegan Akin led the charge throwing six innings, allowing no runs on just one hit with nine strikeouts en route to MAC Tournament MVP honors.
April 1, 2016: Broncos Defeat Kent State's 1st Round Draft Pick Eric Lauer, 5-4
In a match-up against soon to be MAC Pitcher of the Year,
Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year and first round draft pick of the San Diego Padres Eric Lauer, the Broncos were able to get to score five runs on five hits to secure a 5-4 victory to open up MAC play. WMU was aided by a stellar third inning scoring three runs on two hits.
1985: WMU Registers Series Sweep of Kent State
During the 1985 season the Western Michigan baseball team finished with an overall record of 30-24-1 and 20-10 in conference play. Three of those 20 MAC wins came against Kent State, sweeping the Golden Flashes at home. During the three-game series the Broncos outscored Kent State, 30-11.

May 20, 2015: Schneider's Shutout Leads to Upset Victory
No.7 seeded WMU upset defending tournament champion Kent State, 5-0 on the first day of the MAC Tournament behind a complete-game shutout from junior LHP Derek Schneider. Only two KSU players recorded hits off of Schneider as he limited the Golden Flashes to four total (all singles) and walked just three batters. Schneider tied a career-high with seven strikeouts in his first career complete game.

March 26, 2006: Rasmussen Throws Complete Game in 3-1 Win
Senior RHP Mark Rasmussen tossed a complete game to lead WMU to a 3-1 victory over Kent State at home. In the complete game victory Rasmussen allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out seven.
April 6, 2019: Bronco Offense Explodes in 11-1 Win over Golden Flashes
Prior to earning Second Team All-MAC honors, RHP
Brady Miller dominated Kent State throwing six innings allowing one run on two hits with five strikeouts in an 11-1 victory. Miller retired the first eight batters he faced and allowed just one hit through five innings. The Bronco offense exploded for 11 runs on 13 hits and was the sixth game in 2019 the Broncos have scored in double digits.
