Women's Tennis Signs Two More to NLI's

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis program and head coach Ryan Tomlinson have announced the signing of Ana Karen Guadiana and Maya Perkucin to National Letters of Intent.

Guadiana joins the Broncos from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and Perkucin from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

"We could not be more excited to add Ana and Maya to this recruiting class," said Tomlinson. "They join Karin and Paula this coming fall. All four of these incoming freshmen are outstanding students, outstanding tennis players and most importantly high character individuals. All four will have immediate impact and I look forward to them joining our Bronco tennis family this fall."

Guadiana is a Women's Tennis Association ranked player and reached as high as 622 in the junior rankings. She has played in two 250k events in Monterrey and is graduating from the Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey Prepanet.

"Ana has played at a very high level internationally with success," Tomlinson added. "She brings a great work ethic, athleticism and a big game from the baseline with her. We can't wait for her to get on campus."

Perkucin has represented Ontario in each age group at the Canadian Junior Nationals. She finished in the top six of the Ontario Provincial Championships in both 2016 and 2018 and was a Bramalea Open WS350 finalist in 2019. Perkucin was also a doubles champion at the 2019 U18 Bloomex Cup. She is ranked in the top two percent, academically, in her grade.

"Maya has all the attributes to be a very successful player in Kalamazoo," said Tomlinson. "She is very intelligent, a fierce competitor and a great athlete. We look forward to her arrival to campus."

The pair join Paula Wohlers and Karin Hamilton, who signed in November.
