Men’s Basketball Signs Guard Josiah Freeman

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – On Friday Western Michigan men's basketball head coach Clayton Bates announced the signing of Josiah "JoJo" Freeman to a National Letter of Intent.

Freeman joins Daylan Hamilton, Greg Lee and Jaylon Holmes as part of the Broncos 2020-21 recruiting class.

Freeman is a 6-4 guard out of Manassas Park, Virginia and was ranked the No.17 recruit in Virginia and the no. 74 shooting guard in the country according to 247Sports.com. Freeman played a majority of his prep ball at Paul VI Catholic who was ranked fourth in the nation by MaxPreps.com heading into the 2019-20 season.

In nine games with Paul VI Catholic during his senior campaign, Freeman averaged 14.9 points per game and shot 47 percent from the field and 47 percent from behind the three-point line.  Freeman was a 71 percent shooter from the free-throw line as well. Freeman transferred mid-season to Manassas Park High School where he led the Cougars to the Class 3 Regional semifinals.

During his junior season at Paul VI Catholic, Freeman averaged 11 points per game on a team riddled with All-Americans. During his time at Paul VI Catholic Freeman registered an overall record of 51-5 with three WCAC regular season and conference championships.

In 12 games for the Under Armour AAU circuit District WAWG team, Freeman averaged 10.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Freeman shot a stellar 45 percent from the field and 89 percent from the free-throw line.
