Holmes played at Merrillville High School under head coach T.J. Lux. During his senior campaign Holmes led Merrillville to an 18-8 overall record and a Co-Duneland Athletic Conference Championship. Holmes is anticipated to have three years of eligibility remaining.

Holmes on Choosing WMU:
"I have decided to attend Western Michigan because it is where I felt I can make the biggest impact as a player. The genuineness I felt from Coach Bates helped me with my decision and I want to say thank you for recruiting me and giving me this opportunity."

Head Coach Clayton Bates on Jaylon Holmes:
"We are extremely excited to welcome Jaylon to the Bronco Basketball family. Jaylon's greatest strength is his versatility. He brings great size at 6'6" to our perimeter attack as he can play multiple positions."

"Jaylon has great court vision and plays with a desire to be his best. He grew tremendously from outstanding coaching at Lincoln Trail College and we are excited about him being a Bronco!"
