PITTSBURGH, Pa., -- Western Michigan hockey senior defenseman Cam Lee has signed a two-year, entry-level contract, with the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins.
The contract is set to begin during the 2020-21 season.
Lee wrapped up his career with the Broncos, capping off four years with a career-best five assist performance during the 8-4 win over Miami on Senior Night. The Ferguson's Cove, Nova Scotia native appeared in 137 games, racking up 85 points on 18 goals and 67 assists. In Lee's final two season with the Broncos he combined for 10 goals and 37 assists, with a plus/minus of +21.
"We are very excited for Cam to begin his professional hockey career with such a great organization in the Pittsburgh Penguins," said head coach Andy Murray. "Cam is a very skilled defenseman and we look forward to seeing him succeed in the NHL."
"Cam is a good-skating, offensive-minded defenseman that fits the current style of play in today's NHL," said Penguins executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford in a release by the Pittsburgh. "This signing adds more young depth at defense for us. We're excited to have Cam as a member of the Penguins organization."
Lee was a fixture in the WMU lineup from day one of his college career, playing in 38 games his freshman season and helping the team to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
