AKRON, Ohio – The Western Michigan track and field team wrapped up the indoor season at the 2020 Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday at the University of Akron's Stiles Field House.
The highlight of the weekend for the Broncos came with senior Erin Dowd taking second overall in the 400-meter dash. The Brighton, Mich., native ran a time of 54.28 seconds, finishing just behind Olivia Bechtel from Miami to earn eight points for the Broncos. Dowd was also named Second Team All-MAC for her performance. Dowd finished the indoor season finishing no lower than third in any 400-meter race she was involved in.
Eastern Michigan won the meet with 104 points, edging out runners up Northern Illinois by two. WMU finished tied with Ohio for 11th with 14 points.
Also scoring on the day for the Broncos was junior Tauja Foreman. Foreman scored at a MAC Championship for the first time in her career after placing eighth overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.90 seconds.
Senior Juliane Sormain took sixth overall in the 800-meter run to add to the team's total after running a time of 2:14.34.
Dowd and Sormain combined with Alex Bryant and Jasmine McLemore to take sixth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:46.58.
