OMAHA, Neb. -- The Western Michigan hockey team dropped its third straight game at the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Pod, with an 8-2 loss to No. 1 North Dakota on Sunday afternoon.

Paul Washe and
Josh Passolt but were outshot 35-18 on the day.
North Dakota scored the first three goals in span of less than two minutes from 6:45 to 8:28 in the first period to build an early lead. The Fighting Hawks added another goal before the period break. UND added three more goals to take a 7-0 lead midway through the second period.
The Broncos broke the shutout at 16:53 on the a five-on-three power play.
Ronnie Attard fired a blast on net and Peter Thome made the initial save but the puck bounced into the crease and was poked in by Washe to cut the lead to 7-1.
North Dakota added its eighth goal at 5:39 in the third period. The Broncos were able to put more pressure on the Fighting Hawks late in the game, with Passolt scoring at 17:30. Washe found Passolt in the left circle and he quickly fired the puck past Thome for his first goal of the season and team-best fourth point of the season.
Western Michigan finished the night 1-for-5 on the power play, with UND going 3-for-8.
