KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team announced its 2020-21 Mid-American Conference schedule on Friday.
The Broncos are scheduled to play a full 20-game conference schedule with 10 games inside University Arena. All games are subject to change with times and broadcast information to be released at a later date.
WMU opens up conference play with a showdown against in-state rival Central Michigan on Friday, Dec. 18. The Broncos follow their game against the Chippewas four days later when they host Ball State on Tuesday Dec. 22.
Opening up the new year the Brown & Gold host MAC West foe Toledo on Jan. 2 before back-to-back road contests at Ball State (Jan. 5) and Kent State (Jan. 9). Three of the next four games are inside University Arena for the Broncos highlighted by a match-up with defending MAC regular season champion Akron on Saturday, Jan. 23.
Western Michigan rounds out the month of January with road games at Ohio on Jan. 26 and at Miami, Jan. 30. The Broncos are at home against Northern Illinois to begin the month of February before contests at Bowling Green (Feb. 6), at Buffalo (Feb. 9). WMU hosts Ohio (Feb. 13) Kent State (Feb. 16) prior to a three-game road trip against CMU, Toledo and NIU.
The Broncos home and regular season finale is set for Friday, March 5 against in-state rival Eastern Michigan. New to the 2020-21 season is the elimination of divisions with each MAC team playing a 20-game conference schedule. The MAC also eliminated the opening round campus-site games for the men's and women's basketball tournament. The top eight-teams will advance to the conference tournament in Cleveland, Ohio.
