D'Wayne Eskridge has been named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week while senior kicker
Thiago Kapps was tabbed as the MAC West's Special Teams Player of the Week.
In last week's 52-44 win over Central Michigan, Eskridge recorded four receptions for 212 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. It was the second time in his career the Bluffton, Ind., native has eclipsed the 200-yard receiving mark. Eskridge earned two of his three touchdowns in the third quarter with both touchdowns in the quarter being over 70 yards.
Through three games, Eskridge leads the MAC in yards (457), touchdowns (6), average yards per catch (32.6) and average yards per game (152.3). The do it all receiver also leads the MAC in all-purpose yards at 735 and ranks third in the league with 278 kick return yards.
Senior kicker
Thiago Kapps was used early and often in the decisive win over Central Michigan last Wednesday. Kapps was a perfect 7-for-7 on PAT's and was 1-of-2 on field goals, connecting on a 24-yard field goal. His 7-for-7 performance against the Chippewas marked the 10
th time in his career Kapps has been perfect on PAT's.
Kapps also had one kick-off for 65 yards at CMU, resulting in a touchback. Kapps is tied for first in the MAC with 19 extra-points made.
Western Michigan (3-0) returns to the field on Saturday, Nov. 28 for a match-up with Northern Illinois inside Waldo Stadium. Kick-off is set for 12:00 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN Plus.
