KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan redshirt senior wide receiver
D'Wayne Eskridge has accepted an invitation to play in the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl, the premier annual college all-start game.
Through three games, Eskridge leads the Broncos and the Mid-American Conference in yards (457), touchdowns (6), average yards per catch (32.6) and average yards per game (152.3). The do it all receiver also leads the MAC in all-purpose yards at 735 and ranks third in the league with 278 kick return yards.
Eskridge is considered to be one of the best all-around players in the country leading the NCAA with 245.0 all-purpose yards per game. The senior wide receiver also leads the nation in yards per reception (32.6). Eskridge ranks second in the nation in receiving yards per game and 16
th in receiving touchdowns.
Last week at Central Michigan, Eskridge secured four catches for 212 yards and three touchdowns en route to WMU defeating its in-state rival 52-44. It was the second time in his career Eskridge has eclipsed the 200-yard receiving mark with his three touchdowns setting a new career-high.
The Bluffton, Ind., native has registered at least one touchdown in every game this season and has recorded over 230 all-purpose yards in each game. Two weeks ago against Toledo, Eskridge had seven receptions for 131 yards and one touchdowns. His seven receptions against the Rockets was one shy of his career-high.
Eskridge, a 5-9, 190-pound native of Bluffton, Ind., is a preseason All Mid-American Conference selection by
Athlon Sports (1st team) and
Phil Steele (3rd). Earlier this fall, he was named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List.
Defensive back/kickoff returner Darius Phillips and offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor were the last Broncos invited to the Senior Bowl, both being offered in 2017. The 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl will be played Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The contest will be broadcast on NFL Network.
